Past couple days

Past couple of days I've been waiting for some freelance to come through, so I've been doodling in photoshop. I got a couple of nice brush sets from Deviant Art, and I started looking up lots of free textures, so I've been messing around with those.
This was a doodle from my sketchbook that I was kind of happy with, so I decided to first test out the brush pack I had on my computer.

This was from a LONG time ago. A couple of years I think. I may have even been living in Chicago when I drew this, honestly. This and the others all used a tutorial in Photoshop to make it look like old comics. I wanted to see if it would be good to do the rest of my comic in it. I'm still not totally sure.
I also had an old coloring book page scanned into my computer. I still don't understand what's going on in it.
I think this one was is on my blog from an earlier post. I messed up the tutorial somehow, but really ended up liking the color scheme that came out of it, even if it was way more red than I originally had planned.

Lynna Sketchcrawl 1

SO I decided to play another Zelda game, even though a lot of them are very samey (How samey? This game shares almost all of the character sprites from Link's Awakening). I just enjoy them a lot. BUT since I spent so much time working on that last zelda comic I thought it would be fun if I did drawings of it while I was playing it. There was a lot of pausing and drawing the screen. I have a hard time figuring out how much I played today, but the answer is much more than anyone over the age of 18 should play video games in a day.

Dream Girl

SPOILER ALERT: If you are reading this in 1992, this is the end of Link's Awakening. I have exercised my right of "If you haven't played it yet you never will" and made a comic about it. It's kind of a downer of an ending. I hate that whole "Do what's right just because it's the right thing, even if it makes everyone you know absolutely miserable" that media does. Oh well! I guess it's a fairly good lesson to learn.
I spent an inordinate amount of time on this piece. I was just fussing around with the first panel, and decided to do the whole thing. Guess what! I am probably not doing an entire 24 page comic like this. I think I ended up working from 3PM until 2 AM on this. I took plenty of breaks, but still. The original is drawn on animation bond. I didn't bother with a heavy inking, and I don't think it's hurting for it, particularly.

Wait? Invisible walls?

I feel like the color on this one is a little grating, but at the same time I mostly used the palates of the game itself. I played LoZ recently and once you get to the second quest the game stops caring whether or not you're having fun, and just wants you to be punished for playing. Generally the thing I like about Zelda games is that while they get difficult later on, they're never unbeatable. There's parts of the second quest that are absolutely impossible without a guide or someone who knows what's going on. Come on, S. Miahon what's up?

Princess Powerchord

I was listening to Helter Skelter by The Beatles and thinking about Disney Princesses at the same time. THIS is the kind of Disney 2D movie I'd like to see. Kind of unsure about which one I like more, but I'm leaning towards the flat one.
