An idea!

I finally had a movie idea today. For some reason the phrase "when pigs fly" conked into my head and later I remembered the dream sequence in "Brazil" where a character is flying through a city. It seems almost clear cut how the plot should go to some extent, so I'm going to try to flesh it out and see if I can get a grasp on what could happen and if I could fill 74 minutes with it. It seems more promising than Ghost Train right now, which I'm having a hard time figuring out a central plotline or theme for. Though I did get a good idea that I haven't followed through on.

This is a very, VERY quick mock up to sort of remember something I want for it. Nothing's definite yet, but I might be on to something.

El Presidente

"Everyone below the age of sixteen years old... Is now sixteen years old." Esposito in Bananas

This is a re-imagining of a picture I did for someone in high school. Originally the picture was her as a nazi-esque dictator, but after her trip to Central America I thought this would be more appropriate. Say what you want about the tenets of national socialism, at least it's an ethos!

Yo ho ho!

MORE FAN ART, OH GOD WHY? I really like the Wind Waker Zelda games, partly because of the style, and partly because it feels more adventure-y than other Zelda games. Twilight Princess seems more like you doing a series of chores for a domineering muppet than an ADVENTURE. The original NES Zeldas were adventure-y, and Link to the Past was PRETTY adventure-y, but you're totally adventuring in Wind Waker and The Phantom Hourglass.
Just passing over a wide sea to fight monsters in a temple felt more adventury than walking across a grassy field and then chasing cats as a wolf. Not that I dislike Twilight Princess, even though Midna totally comandeered the game and made it ALL about HER. Which was nice. I'm glad they're finding ways to add character to the different links. The Wind Waker Link seems kind of stupid, which I like. But adventure beckons to him!
I really love this texture.

I mostly did this because i need to get back into inking finishing and doing shadows.

44 Movies

So I've decided to attempt to watch all 43 feature animated films that Walt Disney Feature Animation has made over the course of January and February. I'm not doing it chronologically, though in retrospect I wish I had gone that route, and I'm not watching in blocks of "periods." I actually think arranging Disney films in different periods is kind of silly in the first place. I'm not doing it by THEME, such as Princess movies, Prince movies, ADVENTURE movies or anything like that.

Do you think it's weird that they play up the princess angle so much and downplay the prince one? Because there's an awful lot of Disney Princes. Besides the blando charming princes. Simba, the nameless Beast, Aladdin, Kuzko, Hercules and Dude from Sword in the Stone are all male royalty who star in their respective movies.

There's also one theme I've picked up from EVERY SINGLE DISNEY MOVIE I've watched, with the exception of the two Fantasia movies, though those both have it. Going where you're clearly not supposed to go and WONDERFUL THINGS HAPPENING TO YOU. Sure you may have to overcome obstacles but literally every Disney movie I've seen all involve going into a place that you should know better about, and generally, with the clear exception of The Lion King, things work out pretty hunky dory. Even The Emperor's New Groove is kick-started by the prince announcing that he will be barging into where he doesn't belong. And it ends in friendship. John Goodman Friendship. THE BEST KIND OF FRIENDSHIP.

So far I'm enjoying myself but I've decided to make a sub-blog to document my decent into the deep dark pit of wonder.
